Project Manager - USCG
The Project Manager will plan, initiate, and manage Information Technology (IT) projects within a DoD environment in Elizabeth City, NC.
The Project Manager will serve as a liaison between business and technical teams, guiding and directing technical staff. This role involves ensuring that project stages align with business objectives, assessing the implications of each stage, and providing solutions to meet timelines and cost targets. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the full software development life cycle, including the identification, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Management:
Develop project plans and schedules, monitor progress, and ensure that all phases of the project lifecycle are completed on time and within budget.Team Leadership:
Provide direction to technical staff, ensuring they are well-supported and able to execute project tasks. Organize and assign responsibilities to team members, ensuring a clear understanding of roles and tasks.Liaison Role:
Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment of business needs with technical solutions.Risk & Issue Management:
Monitor project risks and issues, addressing any concerns that arise, and ensuring the project remains on track to meet goals and objectives.Standards & Compliance:
Ensure that all projects adhere to approved standards and contractual obligations. Collaborate with clients to maintain alignment with project goals and objectives.Documentation & Reporting:
Oversee the preparation of program management plans, technical specifications, and performance reports. Maintain technical and financial records to monitor progress and report to both management and customers.Evaluation & Policy Recommendations:
Assist in developing and installing techniques and procedures for better organizational performance, policy recommendations, and future IT enhancements.
Minimum Education/Qualifications:
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in providing technical direction and project management.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in managing IT projects.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an associate degree with an IT certification (e.g., PMP).
Skills/Knowledge:
- Familiarity with all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Proficiency in managing documentation standards, system specifications, and technical implementation processes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to organize, assign, and guide technical teams effectively.
