IT Systems and Security Manager
Our client is seeking an IT Systems and Security Manager in Plainfield, Indiana.
The IT Systems and Security Manager (SA) is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role involves participation in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Additionally, the SA develops and implements cybersecurity initiatives to protect the organization's digital assets. This position ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling both staff and customers.
The SA is accountable for the following systems: network and Windows systems supporting day-to-day business operations. Responsibilities include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance, and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
SA Engineering and Provisioning
Engineering SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
Installing and rebuilding servers; configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures.
Contributing to and maintaining system standards.
Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks to leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
Operations and Support
Collaborating with vendors to perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs (e.g., backups).
Performing regular security monitoring with vendors to identify potential intrusions.
Providing Tier III/other support for requests from various constituencies, investigating and troubleshooting issues.
Maintenance
Maintaining operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Conducting ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions as necessary.
IT Security
Developing and implementing security policies, protocols, and procedures.
Conducting regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Monitoring network traffic for unusual activity and responding to security breaches.
Managing and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, and other security infrastructure.
Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Providing training and awareness programs for staff on IT security best practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities
IT Support Team Management
Overseeing daily operations of the IT Support team, ensuring timely and effective resolution of support requests.
Mentoring and providing guidance to team members to foster a collaborative, high-performing environment.
Establishing and monitoring performance metrics to enhance team productivity and service quality.
Vendor Management
Leading vendor management activities, focusing on infrastructure, networking, and security vendors.
Negotiating and managing contracts to ensure vendors meet service level agreements (SLAs) and align with organizational objectives.
Coordinating vendor assessments and regular performance reviews to optimize service quality, manage costs, and maintain compliance with organizational standards.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Security Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity standards and guidelines to support best practices in security management and regulatory compliance.
Miscellaneous Duties: Assisting in company-wide activities associated with the department.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as engineering or computer science.
Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft or experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and LAN/WAN architecture.
Knowledge of warehousing systems and processes is a plus.
2+ years of systems administration experience.
Experience with IT security practices and protocols.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and correspondence.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interpret and discuss information involving unfamiliar terminology or concepts and provide advice on complex issues.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations such as counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
